Character: Casyan the Shadowmancer
Race: Cervidae
Class: Shadow Mage
Alignment: Evil
Information: At Zephrum's northern border the golden plains halt abruptly only to transform into a broken mess of jagged stone fields with dark rocks jutting every which way. Not far in the distance towers the volcanic land of Droth. A landscape of looming peaks that seem to constantly spew noxious fumes and stinging ash. There are people alive today who still remember the land being rich with crops and numerous villages and town. But this all changed when the mountains suddenly cracked open, spewing forth lava, and many say, some ancient evil came with it. Most of the people of Droth moved on, taken in by other nations as their homeland had become uninhabitable. The nearly constant plumes of ash, permanently blotting out the sky, causing the land to wither and die. For some reason however the ash seems to not cross into the border of Zephrum, causing many to speculate there is some mystical force at work. Casyan was born the day of the eruptions. Though his family fled in time before the ash could overtake their home, Casyan was seemingly cursed. His fur was tinged an unusual shade of purple, that seemed to mirror the strange ash spat out by the volcanoes. Villagers started becoming suspicious of the child, as when he would become ill, he always made a miraculous recovery, while other children in the village come down with the same illness and sometimes died. Sometimes if Casyan was scolded by a villager the next day they would get severally hurt. Objects like windows or wagon wheels would shatter around him and people noted an unusual feeling of always being tired as if they being drained of energy. Eventually this lead to every minor problem in the village being blamed on the child. Branded a witch at an early age Casyan was a lonely with no friends. Being shunned and spat at was a regular occurrence that Casyan had grown used to. Even his parents started to act fearful of him, treating him little better. Though they offered him a roof and attended to his basic needs, they provided little else in the way of love and support and when he was old enough they sent him away to a boarding school. This would be the last he would see of his family. His parents were well off enough to pay for their son to live at the school year round. Casyan loved school and did well for himself, but the same sorts of event plagued him there as back home. Determined to get to the bottom of his curse, he spent days poring over dusty tomes and scrolls till finally he found what he was looking for. A obscure text spoke of Shadowmancy, the art of controlling shadow beings to do ones bidding. All his life, these beings had been quite literally attached to him and on a whim when Casyan as scared or angry, they picked up on his desires and would lash out. Once Casyan learned of his power, his only desire became to grow in strength. The source of his magic must yet reside in Droth and it's become his goal to find the source of his powers.
