I dont talk much about my spiritual/religious side but it’s been a pillar of strength for a good while. I’m Ásatrú (or Heathen, Norse Pagan whatev you’d like to call it!), so naturally runes are very important to me, both as tools to understand ones life and path and as symbols of strength and connection to the gods.
The rune up top is Sowilo, it represents the sun and the god Baldur, it’s my guide, as the sun is always there above us guiding us in day and as a promise at night. On top of my heart is Ingwaz, and is the rune that represents home, family and the goddesses Frigga and Eir. My family are the ones I hold the closest to my heart and have been there since the beginning. On one of my hands is Ansuz, and it’s the rune of knowledge and of the god Odin, it represents the self always reinventing, always seeking to better one self. On the other is Ehwaz, the rune of the horse and it represents changes and journeys, that life always goes on. The Mjölnir pendant is obviously a symbol of the god Thor, and is a source of protection and strength. Under it is a pendant I bought in Iceland in the shape of a polar bear and made from mammoth ivory, it’s my connection to a place I hold very dear 💕
And of course, my bf’s hands cradling me, soothing and loving 💖💕💖

I'm an Ásatrú myself so I know how you feel. I really don't know how to describe runes but it feels like they're from a time when the world was young and mankind was just taking its first footsteps if that makes any sense. There's definitely an ancient power in them that's for sure.
This is such a lovely peaceful peice.
Do you have any resources you can recommend for people trying to learn the basics about runes? I'd love to learn more and get in touch with that part of my ancestry, but I'm usually leery of topic for fear of running into false information or white supremacists who've appropriated the faith.

That is certainly a bit tricky, but there are a lot of websites out there that have good wholesome info on runes, look for sites and books by ppl that call themselves Ásatrú or Troth, they are usually the more humanist side if the faith, avoid ANYTHING by ppl that call themselves Odinists as they are 90% of the time neo-nazis/white supremacists!
This site is a good resource for finding more info on heathen stuff; http://www.theasatrucommunity.org/ 💕💖

Man, this is such a beautiful image <3 I really love the energy you've captured in this one :3
Runes really have a power that's just, impossible to really explain. I'm actually planning on making my own set of runestones! And my mother, also being spiritual like me, was told to tell me to find white flat stones near water. So I get you, I really do <3
Amazing image once more, as well as such an amazing energy <3

Ah I love this, it's such a wonderful belief system! It's neat to see a growing interest in pagan religions among our generation. Though I'm not very spiritual myself, I am an archaeologist with a deep love for the past and a particular interest in cultural continuity, and I love to see people carrying the old ways forward.
