I've never, personally, had a bad hospital experience, but the concept of the medical world as a clinical, dehumanizing hell has long haunted me.

In this extract from the third volume of Heathen City, due out this summer, we see Tony Caulfield who can best be described as 'messed up real bad'. This is his subjective, expressionistic manifestation of the nightmare he endured under the mechanistic care of medical professionals.

The art is by the awesome  phantastus, who loves the TV show 'Firefly' as much as I do. I gave a little geeky 'squee', therefore, when I noticed that she'd named one layer in the Photoshop file "Hands of Blue" :)
