I can only think of two real benefits (unrelated to stats or battle) to being a Raichu:

#1: Their bigger.
#2: They have those rounder bellies with lighter fur coloring that are just begging to be scritched and/or tickled.

Of course, as a frequent macrofur, #1 would be really redundant for you, and as a voraphile, #2 can be easily acquired too.

I myself generally like Raichus more as well... however, I think you look fine as a Pikachu. You are one of the few pikachus I actually think are cute, so please no evolving... or maybe I'll go get some de-evolution spray, that way you can experiment? regardless, though I prefer your Pika form, it should be cause of your desires what form you take, not the pressures of others. if someone is your friend they'll like you no matter the form, even if you spontaneously turned into a muk. ^^

In the games and show, Raichu are overall better, evolutions generally are. However, its also pointed out that by evolving, in the gym match between Surge and Ash, that Evolution doesn't guarantee they're always gonna win. Everything has pros and cons and likes and dislikes that one might see about it.
Your choice then lies in where you think YOU feel happier - don't let others mold you into who you are or what you see yourself like, ESPECIALLY if it doesn't make you happy.
So what if they like Raichu's better? Thats their opinion - not yours~ ;)
You're you, not what someone thinks of you - even if it stings some.

*huggles* Reminds me when I was contemplating evolving to a Zard myself. It's the reason there's a drawing of my Zard form; I was 'trying it out'. =o

Charmeleons are, under normal circumstances, not as cute as a Charmander nor as sexy as a Charizard, so being in that awkward, less-popular evolution is difficult for me as well.

It's not silly to feel down by this. In my opinion, while Pikachus are admittedly overpopular in commercial Pokemon world, you're a very special and wonderful Chu who is refreshingly more enjoyable to be around than any other Chu I know. ^^ I like you just like you are, hehe!

Stay proud of what you are. I know you as a really awesome pikachu, and I'd love to see you as a pikachu forever. I personally prefers pika. But it's yours, to decide, and if you want to become a raichu, then it will be your choice. You don't have to take care about other's opinion. Do something you enjoy. There is no need for you to become someone different just because some thinks that it's better. Stay pika or become raichu, but do something that please you.

Here's a fun fact. In my Fire Red game, I have a Pikachu in my team. Over level 80, and I simply refuse to evolve it. I want it as a Pikachu and to STAY a Pikachu. In fact, I don't think I have ANY Raichu's except for one in Pokemon Crystal. <.<

I used to feel like you did a long time ago :] ALL my friends were canine. My girlfriend told me she would be happier if I was a wolf instead of a raichu. MAN did that sting :S It seems to me like you're getting the same treatment from your community. No species is better or worse than any other.
