[The Sub-setting]
Synopsis: You, at a protest, are abruptly subsized amidst the crowd and seek a way out of your dangerous situation.
This second-person vignette was originally written for Twitter (click here to see it in its original format) and was an interesting exercise in writing paragraphs to the 280-character limit. I may do more of these in the future.
Notice: I recommend reading the story blind to spoilers, but if required, content warnings may be found in the submission tags.
Please follow the download link above to the pdf.

To be honest your little story " Less than Lethal" is a pretty good example of some of the careless mentalities of police enforcement tools.
"Pacify" without a second thought of lingering effects. I would hope in your fiction the police would have some sort of recovery method for detainment, though I cannot think they would be gentle with it. As is often the case these days.

Hey, Benni! Want to give a reply here after all this time. I'm glad the story resonated with you when you read it. Police brutality is an important topic for which I want to keep a focus of critique. In the setting, they do indeed make an effort to collect those they subsize, but as you say, it's harsh and ends badly with frightening frequency. There's a reason people are protesting, as we should be in reality.
