final day for the arcana fest was a free space so i picked merfolk AU since i haven't drawn a fish person since that one kinktober

general idea here:
montag/mercenary lucio fucking hates the ocean, and one day he’s vindicated when he’s knocked overboard in the heat of battle (we’re going with “he hasn’t unsheathed his sword yet, due to using fisticuffs like a rowdy lad”)

due to that aforementioned heat of battle thing, his men aren’t quick enough to save him before he drowns

and then along comes a sea witch in training (sea witch is a gender neutral term, thank you), arsenic, gathering dead stuff for spells n’ shit

rather than eating him or using him for parts, they decide to try out a spell they’ve been wanting to do for a while: bringing someone back to life. and it works!!
