Love Thy Neighbor. Eat thy neighbor.
I wanted to do a story with Petra and Fresh. I really like this bunny and wanted to flesh her out. She actually loves to be eaten, but only on her terms. Dialogue is probably my favorite part of writing because it give me a chance to develop characters' personalities by having them bounce off each other. Sure, some people are just here for the vore, but I like writing my cast of characters.

Petra’s eyes shot open. The small purple rabbit turned over in bed and looked at the clock. “10:30. Exactly five minutes since the last time I checked…” She groaned and rolled onto her back. There she lay, staring at the ceiling. Motionless. The only sounds were the distant hum of cars far below and her own heartbeat. For the past two hours, no matter what she tried, she couldn’t sleep.
Eventually, she hopped out of the bed, dragging her tired feet to the window. A pale, crescent moon shone dimly through the black clouds. Her mind was still frazzled, causing a serious case of insomnia.Petra started pacing nervously, her long ears drooping behind. It was a bad habit, but the small rabbit couldn’t help but pace and mumble to herself whenever she felt this uneasy. And a lot of the times, she barely paid attention to where she was going, leading to more than a few bumps.
Thankfully, the only thing she ended walking into was the hallway. So lost in her own thoughts, still pacing back and forth, that she couldn’t hear the approaching footsteps.
“Um, are you ok?” Petra snapped back to reality with a startled jump and subsequent stomp at the voice. It had come from the tall, lanky fox who had just turned the corner; one she finally recognized as her neighbor, Fresh.
“No, um, yeah… I’m fine.” Petra mumbled her words, her heart still racing both due to her nerves and his accidental jumpscare.
“It’s…” Fresh paused a moment. He had always been horrible at remembering names. “Paula, right?”
“Petra.” The purple rabbit’s ears drooped as she looked down, her voice still shaky. “Sorry if my pacing bothered you.”
“Right, Petra, sorry. Don’t worry about the pacing; I just got back.” The fox bore a worried look. “And I’m sorry for startling you, but is something the matter?”
“Just… can’t sleep. Nerves. A lot on my mind.” She crossed her arms and held her shoulders.
“Want to talk about it? Don’t know how much I can help, though.”
“It’s stupid, don’t worry.”
“So? I don’t mind.” Fresh shrugged. Petra lifted her head and took a good look. He had a somewhat relaxed vibe, but still sounded concerned. Though their previous interactions had been brief, usually nothing but a passing hello in the hallway, she found herself feeling a little calmer around him.
“Maybe it would be good to talk…” Petra muttered under her breath, her head still down and ears drooping once more. Slowly, she opened the door to her apartment and invited the fox inside. She pulled out a set at her table while Fresh, being much taller than her furniture had room for, leaned against the wall.
“So, what’s got you worried?” He asked politely, genuinely concerned. Though the fox wasn’t the best at talking, he had always been a good listener.
“It… it was an exam.” Finals week for the university was already upon them. Fresh, who had finished the previous semester, nodded his head in understanding.
“You don’t feel prepared?”
“Not that. I already had the exam. And that’s what has me worried…” Her head dropped into her arms.
“You can’t sleep because of an exam you already took? Sounds a little backwards, if you ask me.”
“I know, and that’s what makes it even worse. I went in, thinking I knew everything. But now that it’s over, I can’t stop worrying that everything I already did was wrong! And it’s keeping me up!” Petra’s voice grew more frantic as she spoke. She felt like she was on the verge of tears.
“If you were confident this morning, you should be confident now since there’s nothing you can do.”
“Yes, but I just can’t help it…”
Fresh sighed. It felt like they were just talking in circles. “Just take a deep breath. You need to calm down.” Petra did as instructed, inhaling and exhaling deeply a few times. “Feeling better?”
“A little, thanks.” She nodded slightly. “It did help talking to you.”
“Not a problem at all. But I can’t really stay that much longer.” Fresh stifled a yawn. “If you want, I can go grab you a sleeping pill or two from my flat. May not relax your mind, but will at least knock you out.” He moved towards the door.
“Actually…” Petra’s voice grew even more timid as her ears flopped down nervously. “There might be a better way to help.”
“Oh?” Fresh stopped and turned before opening the door.
“...eat me…” Petra’s voice was barely more than a whisper. She turned her head and blushed bashfully.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“Could you, um… please eat me? Please?” Fresh stayed silent at her question, seriously contemplating what she was asking. It took a bit of time, but he eventually managed to gather his thoughts and form a response.
“Uh, why?” Was all he could manage.
“It’s, um... I just, well…” Petra stammered and shuffled her feet nervously. “I like being prey. It’s so comforting.” She looked down; another wave of panic started to flood her mind. “I’m so, so sorry! I shouldn’t have asked out of the blue like that! I don’t even know if you’re a pred and I just assumed because you’re, y’know, a fox but, that was--” Petra continued to ramble and apologize. Fresh just blushed quietly. The faintest hint of a smile grew on his muzzle.
“Stop.” Petra did as he told. “Firstly, yes. I am a predator. But secondly--” He shut as he racked his brain. “I just need to confirm something. I’ve heard stories around campus about a small, cute, purple bunny who enjoys being eaten. Those referring to you?”
Did he just call me cute? Petra blushed and thought to herself before responding. “Um, yes. Even though it’s a big campus, I don’t think I’ve seen any other rabbits with my fur colors.”
“OK. Well, the rumor goes that whenever someone eats you, they end up having some really bad luck, ranging from chairs breaking to pop quizzes the day after to getting eaten themselves. Any truth to those? Or a reason?”
Petra sighed and looked down. She never liked having to discuss this. “Well, yes. It’s strange and hard to explain though.”
“I’m listening.” Fresh leaned against the wall again.
“So, I’ve always had luck, both good and bad. And before you ask, I don’t play the lottery. My luck is on a much smaller scale.” She explained and started pacing nervously. “And I can somehow pass both types of luck onto others, almost subconsciously.” Fresh nodded in understanding as she spoke. “The only times I’ve passed bad luck onto anyone really is when they ate me without my permission.”
“But I thought you said you liked being prey.”
“Well, yeah, but I don’t like it happening as a surprise.”
“So if I eat you now, nothing bad will happen to me?”
“I promise!” Petra stood up tall and placed her hand on her chest.
“Well, all right then.” Fresh walked over and towered above her. The fox picked her up with ease and held her, finally making eye contact without him looking down.. “Are you sure about this?”
“Yes, please.” For the first time since they started speaking, Petra smiled. Fresh shrugged his shoulders and opened his mouth wide enough to fit the rabbit in. She felt almost giddy; her face practically beaming as she stared into the fox’s cavernous maw, feeling his hot, sticky breath on her face. Having devoured many prey before, most larger than his current one, Fresh faced no trouble as he shoved her head first down his gullet. Petra giggled in delight as she felt his hot, moist tongue roll her head.
The first thing Fresh really noticed was the taste. Most prey tasted different, some good, some bad, but wholly unique to said prey. And Petra was no exception. She was perhaps the tastiest prey the fox had ever eaten. Wanting to savor the flavor, Fresh grunted and started swallowing, albeit slowly. A large bulge grew in his neck as the rabbit’s head was gulped down his throat. Petra sighed in delight, enjoying the moist darkness as she approached the fox’s stomach.
Her torso quickly vanished inside Fresh’s gaping, hungry maw. The bulge in his neck grew and spread as she was pulled deeper inside the fox’s body. His belly started to bulge outwards, quickly growing fuller and larger as the Petra made her way into his stomach. Instinct took over as Fresh quickly consumed her, practically inhaling her wide hips and thick thighs. And just as fast as he started, Petra vanished entirely into his mouth. Fresh panted and took a deep breath as he closed his mouth and gulped hard. The bulge in his neck disappeared and his belly bulged outwards, the white-furred mass sticking out nearly two feet; his shirt only covering about half of it. Urp! Fresh covered his mouth with his fist, trying to cover the belch.
Inside his stomach, Petra giggled. It was hot, dark, and extremely cramped. The walls of his gut were squishy and damp. And she loved it. For whatever reason, she found delight in being inside someone’s gut. Maybe it was the comforting heat, maybe the gurgling noises when they started digesting her; she could never really pinpoint it. Petra let out a relaxed sigh as she squirmed around inside, eventually taking up a leaning position against the outer wall of his gut. Fresh could just barely make out the indent of the rabbit’s head and body on his stuffed belly. “Are you doing ok in there?” He asked aloud, carefully prodding his gut.
“Yes, thank you!” Petra’s voice sounded distant, even though she was as close as one could actually be. “It’s so warm and cozy in here.”
Fresh just shook his head and let out another soft belch. “I’m going to head home now, ok? I’ll lock the door.” He couldn’t hear anything, but felt his gut move as though she were nodding. After locking the door, Fresh turned a corner to arrive at his apartment. A familiar, beautiful face greeted him upon opening the door.
“Well, you’re home late.” Kishara teased. The snow leopard quickly took notice of his stomach, spotting the outline of a freshly devoured prey. “So who’s in there?” She playfully prodded his gut.
“Petra. That purple rabbit from a few doors over.” He blushed as she lifted his shirt to fully expose his furry belly. Knowing he secretly liked the attention, Kishara gingerly rubbed the massive white and orange mound.
“The Unlucky Bunny?”
“Yeah. She was having an issue, I listened and offered some help, so she asked me to eat her.”
“Hmm~ Well, it may be good for you to sleep her off.” Fresh nodded in agreement and started to get ready to sleep. Inside of his stomach, Petra started to do the same. The peaceful darkness, the comforting warmth; everything just put her mind at ease. She shut her eyes, strangely soothed by the gurgling noises coming from the fox’s stomach. Already feeling softer, Petra gently gently off to sleep as Fresh’s body began the digestion process.
A loud, blaring alarm went off right next to Petra’s head. She slowly opened her eyes, feeling quite groggy. “8 AM…” She looked around, seeing that she was once again in her bedroom. “It wasn’t just a dream, was it?” The rabbit hopped out of bed and checked her phone quickly. There was a single new notification; an email. Her face beamed as she read the good message. With a newfound hop in her step, she walked towards the door, needing to check something. It was locked, just as he had said, and the key was on the floor right in front of it. Stepping into the hallway, she was greeted by a happy sight.
Fresh had just stepped out of his apartment on his way to work, but something was off. His suit looked tighter than the other times she’d seen it. The buttons on his shirt strained tightly, trying to keep his larger than normal belly covered. His pants seemed to bear a heavy burden as most of the weight had packed onto his rear. The legs looked as though the seams were about to burst from his swollen thighs. Even his cheeks looked a little chubbier. It was a sure sign that he had eaten someone. “So it wasn’t a dream.” Petra smiled, vividly remembering everything that happened last night. She quickly and quietly shut her door, making sure no one could hear. After a few minutes, she watched him through her window as he approached his car. Petra giggled cheerfully as he left. “He’ll have some good luck today.”
