I stopped by the portion of the Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison that has the graves of some of the dead from the US Civil War. It was shocking to see the graves marked Unknown and at the same time, saddening that those men lay buried, unnamed in a grave. Known but to God.

There were numerous graves marked Unknown, all had a red or white rose placed on top of the grave. They were being remembered by todays generation.
