in the IDW G1 continuity, Arcee was originally genderless, like the rest of the cybertronian race ... Jhiaxxus experimented on Arcee trying to introduce gender into the race -- which resulted in an altered perception on those around Arcee that identify such as different, and thus, is called a "she".
I said it was a dude since the actual archetype of the cybertronians as race is male, with male pronouns and such.

I gots me a Springer/Warbot Defender since Springer is my favourite post movie Autobot and I was less then happy with the last two Springer toys Hasbro gave us.
As for Arcee, I enjoyed the Animated series but haven't bothered collecting the figures. Plus, when i think about G1 Arcee, I think of her as the Autobot Whore. Think about it, in the movie she had a thing for Hot Rod, then during season 3 it was Springer, then in the japanese Headmasters series, it was Chromedome. Hell, I don't wanna even think about The Rebirth with Daniel.
And yes I know it wasn't meant to be like that, but damn it was creepy none the less.
