SNOWFLAKE!
This started its life as a quick silly doodle on printer paper, and became a finished painting.
It is meant to look like a digital painting, though it is actually inks and acrylic paints on gessobord (gessoed masonite) I like to stick it to digital media, by doing the same thing traditionally ^.~ (I mean no offense to digital artists, in fact, I like what they do - but I prefer the traditional tools)

If you want to be technical about it, traditionally artists are up at the crack of dawn spending two or thee hours actually *making* the paints from raw chemicals. I suppose you could do the same, and spend two or three hours building the computer from scratch and then putting the OS on each and every morning (if you *really* wanted to) but I'm not sure I see the point either.
People who like digital art like it because it looks good. Not because it does or does not resemble another older form of art. Your art is great. Experiment as you wish, but do not feel you *have* to ape another style.

Well I honestly respect both sides of the fence and if people were to learn what goes into booth and that you need to know the basics and be able to refence right they both can creat beautiful results. If I look at it probably still have more traditional pieces than I do of digital. I just look at digital as another medium that still hasn't gotten any respect. Just like Photos did when they became popular as an art media. And like certain crafts still do. I think people are so caught up in the older is best routine that they can except the new great quality for what they are worth.
I don't know… I believe you still need to know elements and principles of art or design to be able to do both successfully, No matter which you love or prefer. So I see both as equal.
There is my two cents.

I agree that both can be equally useful tools, and that each one can do something effortlessly, that the other has difficulty with . And a skilled artist should be able to handle both.
I do disagree on one point, though - and that is that I believe digital art has gotten far more prolific than traditional art (at least on the 'net and in commercial animation and publications), and gains a lot of respect.. And rightfully so, I believe that a lot of the work being done now digitally is amazing.
I fear that one day, very few artists will know how to work with traditional media at all - but when that time comes, I suppose I will be one of the few who do. And I'll be proud of that fact =).

Well lets hope we don't lose any form of traditional art. I find each gives us a unique view and styles to be appreciated for the subject matter the portray and the concepts they create.
All of which are beautifull I love all your pieces especially when you show the progress. It gives me more appreciation for your work.
I guess you are right, Digital is starting to over shadow traditional. And in some ways over shadowing the artist themselves, I find that even some clients expect work that I creat out of brief vague concepts are easy to do and will only take few clicks with the keyboard to create. Which is definately not the case. But that is a whole new topic (and I refuse to touch with a nine foot poll)
I worry that you are also right about the fact people wont be able to do traditional media either. But if the schools continue to show the different media used to creat such beautiful master pieces such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Monet, & Salvador Dali.
Hey you never know you may be up there with the greats your style and ability to use such a wide range of media sure is unique. And also your respect for all media is rare and endearing quality. I guess that is why I respect you as artist and your art so much. And maybe it isn't even important to you but I would like to know.
Keep up the brilliant work.
