Hmmm, yeah, he does look like he's rather young in this picture. I'll chalk that up to his Sondeckis powers.

And yes, she did a really nice job giving this a contemplative feel. I want to be sitting on that branch!

I think more wistful myself. I wanted something contemplative and I think she did a good job on that. It's more contemplative in the style that most people nowadays would think of the word and not the more traditional Catholic understanding of it.

Understood.

Though many other feeling tie into contemplation, one can say anything about the image and still feel compelled to contemplate the real motive. In a way, it also encourages the viewer to think of the meanings behind the image.

Very good point. It does have a lot more that could be said about it. The question then becomes, is what people see in this a reflection of what's in themselves, or is it waiting in the picture?

I would love to go there too. A lot of my later Metamor Keep stories are set there. Truly a beautiful land, a village set in the trees, with people living in the trees or in burrows beneath them, or in the caves in the nearby mountains.

Indeed! I confess to having been inspired by the Redwall books when I first designed Glen Avery. I wanted a woodland folk who were animal morphs. That it became set in redwoods just sort of happened as I was writing.

LOL!!! No, carnivorous plants is definitely not what I think of when I think of Mossflower! I take it that is an issue on Orion?

not too much of an issue, these plants stick to small feral animals mostly. but they will try to get at bigger prey. but what really makes them a threat is that they can move. some kinds have tendrils, or can shoot needles

Very true. Most creatures are a bit shy toward something they've never seen. And there is an inherent distrust between beasts and the intellectually creative races. Okay, visit back on plan!

also i almost forgot that most predators only come out at night so even better for you!

oh and even more important we have longer days; a full day is 36 hours long, so we get 18 hours of day light and 18 for night.
i hope adjusting to that won't be a problem

Uh... yeah that might pose a bit of trouble for me as I don't think I can stay awake or asleep long enough! I'll just have some odd hours I guess while I'm there!

Oh? How many moons do you have? I love the sight of multiple moons. Makes the tides really interesting too.

we have two moons, one looks just like Earths moon, but i think it's a bit bigger?
the other is pretty big as well, but it's got these blackish purple clouds swirling around it and it's thick bluish purple rings around it. :3

hmmm... i don't think its important but i do hope that the gravity here won't be much of a problem. i mean it's not that much stronger than yours i think. so don't worry about it ok.

Well, how much greater is the gravity on your planet? I am used to Earth standard but I'm a pretty sturdy fellow so should be able to handle a bit more. I'll just need extra food and rest I think.

hmm....i never really calculated it, but on a rough guess it should be maybe 5% stronger?

of course yu can eat what we have here. we got all kinds of fruits and veggies, i'm sure you'll recognize a few. and all different kinds of fish as well.

The gravity will certainly not be an issue. As for the food, I ask because I recall reading a book by Poul Anderson where a bunch of humans were trapped on an alien world. All the same chemical basis for life, but the proteins were different and poisonous so they couldn't eat anything that came from that world.

That said, I will happily accept your word on the subject.

Whew!

I'm going to be pretty busy the next couple of weeks until after Anthrocon, so if you don't hear from me for a while that's why. I've got a trip this weekend, my parents are coming in next weekend, and then Anthrocon. And I still have a lawn to mow! Boy I sometimes wish I did have an airship. But there'd be something to do with that all the time too!
