How To Draw Jonah Harbor Seal (Actual Drawing)
Here's how to draw this portly pinniped.
Step 1: Follow the arch on top of the head to make Jonah's cap, and make several lines for the trim and the button. Make a jagged line for the ruffle of fur sticking out from the hole in the cap.
Step 2: Use the arch you made for the visor; once again draw a line in the middle for the trim.
Step 3: Follow the ovals in the face for the eyes. Draw a smaller oval in each eye for the pupils and shade them in, except for a small area for glare.
Step 4: Since Jonah is an earless seal, draw a small curve beneath the cap for the ear.
Step 5: At the bottom-left corner of the ear draw a line going down for the left side of the head and and in two jagged lines for the cheek. For the right side, just draw down for the right corner.
Step 6: Draw an upside-down triangle with rounded corners for the nose. At the bottom corner, draw two curves for the top half of the mouth. Curve down and back into the muzzle for the bottom half of the mouth, and make a similar line beneath that for the chin. Don't forget the two cuves for the tongue!
Step 7: To make the left arm, draw a line starting from the cheek, and follow the guides for the arm, hand and fingers. Draw a line in the middle of the hand to make the lifeline. Do the same step for the right arm.
Step 8: Follow the lines for the chest, and make a short jagged line for the ruffle of fur in the middle.
Step 9: Follow the circle to make Jonah's big, round belly.
Step 10: At the point where the construction lines meet, draw an oval with a small curve underneath for the bellybutton.
Step 11: Draw a line towards the lower half of the belly that reaches from one side to the other. This'll be the top of Jonah's bathing suit. Draw a few small curves and circles to make the rope.
Step 12: Draw down then around and back up to make the left leg of the trunks. For the right leg follow the right side of the circle and draw down, back around, and up.
Step 13: Draw a small blimp-like shape for the fish graphic on Jonah's shorts and 3 small circles for the bubbles.
Step 14: To make the left leg, draw a line starting from either end of the trunks and use the oval as a guide for the foot. Draw two lines in the foot to make toes. Follow this step again for the right leg.
