Well, when I first had the idea to do a shaped, egg cake, I had good hopes... BUT, you see... I ran into some problems because I didn't double check to see what I had first... Then, I also ran into some time constraints.
1. I realized when I started to decorate (Which was, today (Easter Sunday)) that some of my colors had dried up and I also had a LOT less than I thought I did.
2. My Grass tip was no where to be found... (A tip used for making "grass" with frosting. )
3. I started to ice the cake late last night then forgot I was supposed to be raiding in WoW. So I covered the cake, with just a smattering of icing on the outside, and played. Came back to it next day. Well, I learned a lesson here... it's much easier to work with FRESHLY WHIPPED BUTTER-CREAM icing. It seems that the icing on the cake itself had, dried, and when I applied new icing onto holes and the outside it would basically slide with the icing, coming off in chunks and overall making the cake quite the ratty and difficult piece to ice. Eventually I took an icing comb to it and it helped a bit, but still looked bad.
So... with all the problems (And only having access to green and purple) I took a tip that had a split to it and might make okay looking grass... the coupler wasn't working right, finally got it on and I was testing it out and... Splorch.. a small rip in the big at the tip caused the tip and a good chunk of frosting to come out, THANKFULLY this was into the frosting container. I just prepped another bag with a leaf tip and just said... That's it.. I'm just putting leaves all over it...
And so I did...
One of my worst decorated cakes, but I was running out of time and patience, and well while it's just for family (Not for a sale and all) I knew it would taste really good... and it DID taste really good.
