🌿 Oresa and August
These characters are from the "Hunterfly" settining. It's the next planet in the Waterway, that is inhabited by mutated flora, fauna and a few remnants of this planet's civilization. It is the planet Tiamat has not visited, and also it's the birthplace of Vinjin. The biome of this planet is like Fallout series, with vaults containing the surviving humans, and settlements that use what's left of the technologies to survive. There are a lot of different mutants that have adapted to the ecosystem, and instead of wasteland deserts there are giant toxic rainforests that sprawl all across the continent.

August is a non-mutated human who lives with his few friends and numerous adversaries in one of the military colonies, made out of an open vault. The colony is sustaining itself mainly on a decent stockpile of supplies like suits, devices and constructions in the bunker. Those who mutated at least partially have to leave and move into more harsh conditions and are considered "second-class" people, however in most cases the mutants retain their experience, senses and become more resistant to the elements.
Despite being a human, August has not been treated well. Having intelligence, wisdom and empathy, he was physically weak and irritated his colleagues, so he was always picked to do the hard and dirty work. As such, he has been selected to test the prototype of advanced masks for the vault. It was a long and risky process that needed strict control, and in an accident the vault got exposed, the science and medical teams have died, and the experimental mask has grown into August's face.
The mask is self-cleaning and able to let some material through in order to eat, drink or spit something out, but in general, it has really impacted his quality of life. His colleagues hated him even more, and he developed issues with his teeth, breath and eyesight. His only option is to find someone who could perform a surgery to remove the mask, but he's really stuck to his quarters and, apart from few of his friends, no one cares about him and his decline. His misfortune continues until their squad captures Oresa.

Oresa is a mutant that has never been a human, but he still has a humanlike intellect and learning abilities. He is a lizard person, strong and agile, but cautious to everything. He was mercilessly "trained", punished by beatings and hunger to break his will and make him a handy pet for recon, disarming explosives and sourcing supplies outside the base.
Humans of the base were "above" feeding and healing him, so it was up to August and a few more mutated people, Rick and Iota. With August's help Oresa has learned to speak and even read a little, and got to know some basic knowledge. A really strong bond (and love, yes) has been established between them, and they became each other's reasons to live.

Some more trivia:
August is an average height human, weak and lightweight, aged 25-30. He usually wears a mix of military and environment protection equipment and a big pack. Knows how to handle firearms, because without them it's deadly outside.
Oresa is quite big and despite his lean body he is still heavy. He's a person of few words and prefers action. Usually reserved and silent, he can be impulsive and show empathy around August. He is extremely strong, but rarely does ever attack and when threatened he prefers to block or flee. The only cases where he's been aggressive was when he had to defend Rick, Iota and August.
