He really, really cares for her, and it has NOTHING to do with her being related to Lilith. :)

My thought was that he got caught up in the situation because he did love Lilith a LOT, but he was probably coming back around on his own. IDK how he fell in with these assholes, TBH.
And I'm glad you liked Devtime! I was a little afraid that it dragged a bit, but I've been thinking about his therapist for a while now. I liked the idea that he was imperfectly wonderful, and that's one of the reasons why he's so understanding.
