Basically the same picture as this one, but in color.
In addition to taking the Grand Tour, Bernyce also took the time to get noticed by several rather prominent individuals. Emanuele Filiberto, the Duke of Aosta, for one. The cousin of Italy's King met her at a dinner party in Milan, where they apparently hit it off.
Another was Crown Prince Yoshihito of Japan. The fox was quite taken with her when she appeared at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Tokyo and later when she adopted full geisha regalia. She never had a bad thing to say about him.
She met and hired Angelica von Neihardt, the daughter of a prominent Prussian noble family, in 1931. Bernyce had left New Haven in 1929 before the Red Fist Revolt, and had settled in Liechtenstein and Switzerland. Angelica's quite a faithful and . . . let us say, versatile employee.
