At the time when this was painted there was really no reason for me to be able to pull it off. Logic dictates that based on my previous experience, attempting to paint this should have been a failure but... it's not at all. It worked out well.

If you want to do something that you've never attempted before, yes, you'd be right to assume that you can't do it well on your first try, but if you just go ahead and go all in, you might be surprised to see just how far your will to succeed can take you.
But be willing to fail and accept failure as an option even when you try hard.
Am I brave enough to confess which painting is my biggest failure despite the amount of work that went into it?

Well I'm glad it holds up after all these years. "At the time when this was painted there was really no reason for me to be able to pull it off..." is referring to 4 years ago when I was leaving my job as a concept artist. They actively discouraged me from using 3D, I was never allowed to work on details, I never worked in color and when I did there was no time given to properly color anything so I didn't learn anything while doing it. Somehow right after that I managed to do this...

Wowww just one of the very type and style of gothic ambient i love..im trully in love with this piece!
Id never say it is a failure, nothing ever close to this..to me its very very pretty and well done piece!
Also i really enjoyed listening to that music too! :D
Also your words are very true.. I tend to feel very anxious when starting certain drawings and "failing" at it..but we can never know if we dont try, and keep trying and trying until we successed..it is truly rewarding, making a drawing you are happy with.
