A new generation
Kai and his cousins decide to form their own heavy metal band

"And that should be enough for right now." Kai said to both Tayla (his anthro white tigon cousin) and Brian (his anthro red welsh dragon cousin) as he closed up his U.S. History textbook and placed on the livingroom coffeetable at his home in Elkins, West Virginia after reading an entire chapter for the past half-hour, wearing a dark-blue sweater, a pair of blue denim, "You guys wanna take a break?"
"I think we deserve a break." Brian replied, closing his textbook up as well, wearing a red t-shirt over his closed wings, a pair of blue denim jeans, and tennis shoes, "Willard (the family's anthro orange tiger butler), would you bring us something to drink, please?"
"Yes, master Brian." Willard replied, just before turning and leaving them.
"You guys wanna catch a little tv?" Kai asked as he reached for the remote control on the coffeetable.
"I'm fine with the peace and quiet. Tamara replied, wearing a pink, long-sleeve shirt, a pair of blue, denim jeans, and tennis shoes.
"Yea, no need for the tv to be on right now." Brian added, just as Willard returned with some sodas for them.
"Thanks, Willard." Kai replied, grabbing a cup and taking a sip of his root beer. "I wonder how much longer mom is gonna be in her home recording studio, recording her new studio album?"
"I don't know, Kai." Brian replied, taking a sip of his root beer as well.
"Hmm." Kai said as he glanced at the door leading to Janice's (his anthro grey wolf mother) home recording studio she had turned into.
All three of his older immediate family members were not in the livingroom at this time. Janice was busy recording her new album for her upcoming summer tour. Joe (his anthro black panther stepfather) was shooting a new movie in New York City and would not return home until later this month.
"We should ask her if we can join her backup group." Tayla suggested, "After all, we are all talented musicians."
"Wait!" Kai said, stopping her with his hand below her neck, "I have a better idea."
"What is it?" Brian asked.
"Let's form our own rock band." Kai suggested to them
"Our own garage band? That's a great idea" Brian said happily, "Imagine all of the hot babes Kai and I could get. I'm in as the bassist with my bass guitar."
"I'll be slammin the drums as the drummer." Tayla added. "After all, you guys know I'm a drummer in the school's marching band. And I have my own drumset as well."
"Guess that makes me the lead guitarist and frontman." Kai said reluctantly with a shrug, "What about a name for our band? It's gotta be a good one."
"How about 'The What'?" Brian suggested
"That's good." Kai said to him, "But we need a better one. A real snappy one"
"Savage." Tamara recommended, "How about that one?"
"Sounds perfect." Brian said "How about you, Kai?"
"That's an excellent name." Kai replied "We'll use that name. We'll meet here every Friday and Saturday to practice."
"Sounds good." Tayla said while Brian nodded. "I have to go."
She grabbed her textbook and left the house after exchanging good-byes to the two boys. Both of them decided to watch some VH1. Later, Janice and her backup group emerged from her home recording studio.
"See you guys tomorrow." She said to them as they left the house throught the front door.
Janice closed the door then turned her attention to the two boys.
"I'm beat, guys." She said, "Mind if I join you two?"
"Sure, mum." Brian replied, pointing to a spot on the couch between himself and Kai
Janice sat down between the two and crossed her legs.
"So, how did study session go?" She asked them
"It went great, mom." Kai said to her, "We did our studying, then the three of us decided to form our own garage band."
"We called it 'Savage'." Brian added, "What do you think?"
"I think that's great." Janice said to them, especially to Kai, "You know, your father was in a garage band in his high school years."
"Really?" Kai asked
"Yep." Janice said as she planted a kiss on the top of their heads.
Both Kai and Brian laid their heads on her shoulders.
