Fortunate are those blessed by the spirits.
Little sequence of Indrys thanking the spirits for what she has in her life. ❤️ And Vygo being a proud and patient dad, look at his haaaiiirrrrr!! But he's so happy with it! Njala and Yzila are natural hair stylists!
People often ask me if there isn't a risk of Vygo and Indrys' children being born sick: there isn't. Their species, the Varanar, were created by unnatural means, with what could be called "magic." The Varanar carry in thier blood the "blessing" of supernatural entities, and this blessing grants them several advantages, such as unnatural health, which includes immunity to the negative effects of inbreeding; high recovery/healing rate to injuries and wounds that would otherside be deadly to a human; and resistence to cold and heat, among other things. Health-wise, their children are no different than any other children. They are healthy and happy.

They are not supernatural creatures, they were "touched" by supernatural forces/entities, in a way (one half of forefathers, the ancient dragons, were the original bearers of the blessing, and passed said blessing to them when they joined together with the humans to create the Varanar, before they disappear). They carry the effects of this "touch" but they are not supernatural themselves. They are born, get injured, contract diseases, breed, age and die, just like any other living creature.
They have notions of family, of course. They know what family is, father, mother, sibling, children etc. But their species does have a higher chance to develop romantic/sexual feelings between siblings, it's something they also inherited from their ancient dragon forefathers. Most of them will not, but some will. Imagine something similar to the Targaryens from Game of Thrones.

Thanks for answering. I was referring to their culture: Since there's no chance for them to develop the equivalent of Spanish Habsburgs and Leopold II, coupled with their supernatural heritage (I consider supernatural heritage to make a being supernatural in essence, even if they otherwise lives as normal; like the godlikes in Pillars of Eternity), they will have different notions of family - different from what we consider normal (family is a big no-no).
(Targaryens being a good example of cultural differences; that being said, Targaryens aren't the best comparison, since incest was a Bad Thing™ for them ;))

Oh yes, in that aspect, it's different! I thought you meant they didn't have a family structure. And I can see how their supernatural heritage would make them supernatural too, makes sense.
The Varanar were created by the implantation of a dragon soul inside a human woman's womb. When both races joined together, they lived together for some time even after the creation of the Varanar. They had different cultures, traditions, beliefs. For dragons, who carried the blessing with them, incest between clutchmates (brother and sister) was not only accepted, but considered the norm in many cases.
Humans had none of that, they were no very different from actual humans in the dawn of civilization. Incest for them was considered bad, it weakened the tribes, and was taboo.
Nowadays, even with both dragons and humans gone, portions of their cultures still linger. In regions where draconic influence was stronger, incestuous relationship between siblings are accepted, but in regions where human influence was stronger, it's still considered taboo. Even if from a biological perspective, it's no different from a normal relationship, these believes have been part of their society for a long time, and are still held true. Old habits die hard.
(As for the Targaryens (and Valyrians), GRRM has said their genetics, along with other elements of the world, cannot be explained by real science, hence why they continue perfect in some aspects, such as their appearance and overall physical health, while suffering from certain problems, like the "madness" they tend to develop, and the frequent dragon-like, scale covered stillborns).
