Some friends of mine and I made up some new Pokemon just for fun, so I made sprites and Pokedex entries for each of them. Please comment with your thoughts.
Hauntorch, Spectorrent, and Wraithorn are the equivalent of Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres. They can take the forms of any of the fully evolved starters of their type, but remain entirely flames, water, or plants, depending on which one it is. If you’re wondering, the blank bottom row is going to be for the new starter that we have yet to invent.

Okay, fine. It's a recolor. So what? As I said before, IT'S SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THE GRASS STARTERS. Let me explain. Wraithorn, Hauntorch, and Spectorrent are made entirely of plants, fire, and water, respectively. They take the form of whatever starter you have with you that matches their type. If you've got a Venusaur, Wraithorn will appear in its Venusaur form. Simple.
Of course, all of it's made up anyway, so it doesn't matter too much, but still.

Okay, it's a recolor. So what? Wraithorn mimics the form of whatever grass starter you have with you. You've got a Venusaur, it appears as a Venusaur made entirely out of plants. I know it's got the same outline. That's the point.
