Here’s a little something I used to work on months ago. There’s an annual action created by one of the local chain store supermarkets where they’d promote writers and illustrators for children books. People were free to send in their works based on the initial prompts handed out by the store where you’d have to write or create illustrations by expanding on the given ideas. If the judges picked up your idea you’d be given cash awards and your book would be put into print by the chainstore and people would be able to buy it. I took a jab at it by creating some illustrations for the story. The book was about a “young prince who dared” and focused on some life lessons for young kids regarding taking responsibility for one’s actions, honesty and other positive values. The pages I drew the pictures for included the title page, a page where the young prince boasts of his bravery with his girl friend who tells him that he was afraid a mouse not long ago, a page where they meet a dragon with a cold, a page where the prince meets an old hag/witch, and another page where the prince and his friend reunite and she’s wearing a tophat, and a page regarding a magical book. I didn’t win the content, but it was still a fun thing to try. And of course I had to make them into buns, because who do you think I am?!
