Marellis is handling it all pretty well. Being careful not to overstep his boundaries or do anything too obvious. After all once the secret is out the fun ends. It being revealed might lead to her being humiliated but that's not really fun since he has no control over that. Not to mention it could lead to a lot of bad blood towards him as well. Both for using private matters to dominate someone during worktime and just blackmail in general.

He's already way overstepped his boundaries by blackmailing Star. The comic so far has even made it pretty clear that it's not even a consensual nonconsent situation (since we have all the background leading up to it). The very best thing one could say for Marellis at this point is that he's got good intentions but bad execution due to ignorance, but even that's improbable considering that he's been in the kink scene for a while and consent is a huge part of that.

He needs to be cautious. If it's revealed he's likely in more trouble than Star is. After all for their superiors the fact that Star likes to be a kitten in her spare time is not relevant. As long as she keeps those things out of the workspace it's no concern.
However Maralis is forcing it into the workspace and abusing his power over her for his own selfish pleasure. That is something they don't want to have because diapers have no place here. That could be part of his plan though. To drag it into the workspace and then pin it on her.

But still it getting revealed could lead to a court martial which could very easily go wrong. If Star revealed it right now he would suffer a lot more than she would. So for him it's a delicate balance. He needs to remain subtle enough to not draw suspicion yet also not let Star realize that if he would reveal it he would suffer a lot more than she would.
