Naw, I totally have a bone for design, but it's one of a few things, and it just kinda worked out that my day job is related to a different one of those things. I'm happy to be able to do bits and pieces of design for kicks on the side ^_^

sadly design is the only talent i have (other than chinese translation) that pays any money
the others are like literary theory, book review, fiction writing.... NO MONEY THERE

And it's also not really fair to judge a designer by the work they do for fun. It's not all that hard to come up with something interesting when the assignment is "make anything you want, whenever." The real test of a designer's skill is if they can come up with something interesting when the client is like "make this dumb thing with all these extra constraints, and oh we need that by Wednesday."

Yah, that's the statement right there. And there's also that worry about making art no longer being fun, right? Still, the design work you've done for clients, such as your book covers, have been astounding.

I've got a couple of web design projects going on the side that have been a bit more straight-up design. It'll be fun to see those once they're up and running.

Nope, just a bit of Photoshop trickery on top of a perfectly normal snapshot <3

But the lomo-style weirdly high-contrast/color balanced photo is totally the look I was shooting for. That, and some of that weird I-took-this-in-'78 selective color fading.
