Okay, so the last one was a bit funny.
I decided to uncurl the ears that were at the sides and then forged them out to a taper followed by bending them a bit.
It's a bit lopsided and one handle rein is a bit longer than the other, but it worked out very well. I made the ferrules (the cylindrical domed caps a the top) from a couple of empty CO2 cartridges that I sawed down to length, drilled a hole in, and filed it rectangular to fit on the tangs.
The wood is made from sassafras and the end caps on the bottom are just sheet steel that I domed in a doming swage.
To permanently fit them together a little nib at the end of the tang was ground in and then when it was assembled I knocked them over to clamp down.
