i've had people commenting on the 4 elements and the 4 girls.

People think:
• Aella must be earth, for she's made of stone.
• Arke must be air, for she's a bird.
• Kaimana must be water, for she's a mermaid.
• Selkisis must be fire, uhmm... i guess... because scorpions and desert? Most probably because she's the last one and fire was unassigned.

Actually, if we have to go by the 4 elements:
• Aella is Fire. She is destruction, creation, she is powerful, passionate, and temperamental, this image shows also the fact that fire does nothing to her and she can handle a sword just fine with her bare hands while the sword is still hot. She was reborn as a stone maiden after she had died by the hands of her rapists, if anything she is more akin to a phoenix than a lump of stone.
• Arke is water. She is intuitive, emotional, and sensitive, she is the most persistent of them all and fluidly adapts to any situation, bringing her plans out with inevitability. She slipped out of the hands of her creator who made her with sorcery to bring war, because she did not wish to be a war machine, and it's thanks to her persistence that the 4 maidens are brought together and the whole comic about monsters will unfold.
• Kaimana is air. She is idea, she is motion, she is change, she embraces anything and while.... yeah, she might be a bit of an air-head, she is also a singer, and her songs can be most powerful, they can sweep the oceans or they can entrance people.
• Selkisis is earth. She is down to earth, grounded in this reality, she reads and collects the writings of great thinkers and finds ways to make them useful, she might be a bit clumsy and dense on the short term, but she is the one with a knowledge as vast as the layers of the earth and the stone upon which a future can be created.
