Well, this is a shock, if you expected the original Big-Bad storyline to be followed.

Not a shock however to anyone who knows me in the slightest.

With all three charizards secured, I decide to let my belly get to work, and soon I'm napping atop my claimed prey.

With the charizards all mine, the animals of the forest are free from real-estate nightmares and resume the running/hiding tactics they were meant to be. However, humans stole this idea of home-building and took it right out of the charizard's field.

I would totally hunt them down just like how I did the charizards, but before I got my nom on, I found myself sitting pool-side enjoying a nice cool beverage.

This was rather costly though. So from then on, the traditional maiden-sacrifice was invented as an offering to wet dragonic appetites. Multi-story homes costs upwards in the hundreds of thousands. A princess or fair maiden doesn't cost anything.

So that's how maiden sacrifices came to be.
