the wings are like when you wake up next morning after one ale too many, and find a strange piercing or tattoo somewhere unexpected. all he could find out was that it takes a major spell to remove the anchors in his back, and that they were expensive. and that they are way too small to allow him to fly... but at least they weigh not much and don't hinder him, so could have been worse.
