It's obvious the symbolism sakuras play within Japanese culture.
They are the coming of spring, but more importantly; how fleeting life can truly be. Such beautiful flowers do not live for very long.
This is what draws Fukune to them. Such beauty and grace, yet their lives too short. If he could preserve such flowers, then he would. He keeps pots and vials of petals, so that those who cross him will know their lives are just as short as cherry blossoms.
