Laer-Jion. The great Avenger. The Bringer of Hate. The Harbinger of Destruction.
A legend of the prey-folk that has been told for almost hundreds of years, the demon Laer-Jion was known to be only a story, and no demonologist had ever encountered him. He was considered a myth until the killings started and the work of something supernatural or demonic became apparent. He is fueled by burning hate and is immensely powerful, as a lord of fire he can see and travel through fire which is as well a strength and a weakness - since it means he can only manifest where an actual fire is and needs to travel on foot to reach other places.
He has the power to turn innocents that were murdered into spirits of vengeance. Those innocents have to give their soul out of their own free will, their appearance from that moment on is that of classical "Nightmares" with black body and burning mane and tail.
Although he has been freed from his vessel he has not used his power to wipe the hunter-folk off the planet, which puzzles especially Leon (who is still thankful for that). The mage suspects that Laer-Jions transformation is not yet complete.
He is skinny and has a totally burned body that is engulfed in magical flames and seldom visible. His eyes are cold steel orbs and after succumbing to an all-consuming hate and ascending to his demonic form he is a sadistic and manipulative schemer. It is interesting to note that, unlike other demons who were spawned from primal urges and madness, he is the first known incarnation of what Leon calls "an abstract concept" - an embodiment of something that is only known to sentient creatures. Just like other demons, however, he is incapable of lying.
Laer-Jion still does not always tell the truth - he just keeps certain details to himself or chooses his words in a way that they are not exactlky a lie, just easily... misinterpreted.
Maybe his complex character and unique history explains his restraints and the little game he tries to play, but maybe there's something or someone else at work...
