It's funny how "aroma" and "odor" are synonyms of one another in the dictionary, yet carry connotations that SHOULD make then antonyms instead.

Usually I refer to the bad, pungent, nasty, "squicky" smells as "odors". But I don't have a specific word for smells that tend to be more positive, enjoyable, agreeable, etc. to most people.

Most of those would be in my pile. One that would not is medium-rare steak. I like steak as long as it has been heated above average human body temp but not so far as to reduce it to charcoal.

Honestly, the biggest thing that turns me off of medium-rare steak is the texture. I've tried it a few times, and it's felt disagreeable in my mouth every time.

I know that I can do medium-well, and perhaps a notch or two more towards medium, but the chewiness / temperature of rare meat isn't to my tastes.
