"We all may speak the same language, but the spoken word means different things to different people."
Two weeks ago, I interviewed for the position of Business Analyst within a large, insurance company. The interview was like most I've had up until we got to talking about the actual duties of the job position.
So what is a Business Analyst? Long to the short, it's someone who serves as a go-between for the insurance company's internal customers who require the IT department to develop them specialized, proprietary software.
Seems like a wasteful position, right? I mean, why bother with an intermediary when the two parties could simply meet directly to make things happen?
Well, this is where the above image comes into play. See, although we may all speak the same language, (English in this case) we all interpret things in different ways. Thus, a small box in the corner may actually appear larger in one person's view and smaller in another's. Therefore, to ask for "A small box in the corner" is actually only the first step in getting the two parties closer towards creating the ideal shaped box that will meet the overall goal of the project.
Taking the Business Analyst position back into consideratin, my job would be, for example, to translate the needs of a lawyer to an IT professional so that both parties can focus on what they do best while I ensure the project's goal is met in a professional and timely manner.
Sound familiar? It might if any of you have ever collaborated with anyone here on an artistic project. You see, despite us all being creative, we all have different ways of expressing and interpreting that which inspires us to do what we love to do most.
For example, Nishi and I have collaborated for over a year on a variety of fun projects. However, we both work through entirely different artistic mediums. Thus, the success of our projects has largely come from learning how to communicate with each other through those ways we each understand the most.
The moral of all this? Never underestimate the power of your own creativity. You may not ever realize it, but sharing and working with others who dabble in the arts truly does make you a better person all-around. Not only do you get to share great ideas, but also become more aware of what it's like to be in someone else's shoes. Thus, in the end, you build an understanding of the world around you whiile learning how to connect with all those who may have the pleasure of sharing your company.

Oopa! I'm glad you liked how it all came together.
I wish I could've had someone capture how I must've looked when, during that particular job interview, I was able to tie-in the stuff I've done here on FA with Nishi towards why I'm a superior candidate for the job. It was a truly epic experience. :)

Well, it wasn't on purpose I assure you. When I get ideas, I typically go with what comes into my head first thing and run with them. Considering the material I wrote for "The Writer" before I drew the picture, I thought it safer to just use myself rather than associate someone else with an emotionally grim concept that just sort of popped into my noggin' at the time. :)
I didn't want to be bad and associate a peaceful writer like you with a random, creative thought that just popped into my head.
On that note, I honestly haven't done a whole lot of new projects lately. However, when I get to one I think you may like to be a part of, I will be sure to write and see if you'd like your character associated with it. :)

In the case of that job, I think you'd definitely be prepared when it comes to all the translation and collaboration kinda things that work might need ya to do! ...Well, as long as you know what lawyers and IT people talk about and want and all. X3 That part sounds tough! But at least with art we know it's doable, and oftentimes fun! (: There are lots of neat ways we can all translate the same thing to get a whole bunch of different perspectives on it! Good times! :3
And I hope your friend doesn't feel too bad about being left out. X3 I think it's really neat you could use our pals for examples here! Even though we have multiple pals that fall under each talent, it's just cool that we could help express your idea and be a part of it! :3 Even those that aren't in the image are a part of it too. (:

I couldn't have put it better. Like I said above, I didn't mean to leave him, or anyone else, out. Rather, I didn't want to associate anyone else with a completely random idea I came up with as I put this page together. I mean, "...so terrified, so dead..." isn't even my typical fair. However, as I always strive to evolve and be open to new ideas, I couldn't help but let my mind finish the chain of thought it was on while I was writing the page. :)
As for the lawyers and IT fellows, I have you and everyone else I've worked with to thank for giving me the confidence to knowing I can do it. By learning how each of us interprets the world, I am more open, understanding, and ready to do what it takes to create the synergy neccessary to get any project I am assigned done well and on time. *Flutters* Oopa!

Yup I deffinatly agree with this, due to my aspergers I have a little bit extra difficulty trying to get people to understand me and for me to understand them, and I have seen it many times when I have seen two people argue sometimes they don't realize it but they are actually fighting against each other to do the exact same thing.
An excellent point. Especially if you think of how, if people just took the time to figure out how to work with one another, so much more could get done. We all have different takes on things, but each really does have its own merit and enlightening addition to any concept and/or project. :)
