This is an earlier piece I made of Brisby, looking out at a sunrise.
It's really cheesy but whatever, I like cheesy :P
I'm not sure where I was originally going with this. I think Jonathan was supposed to be in there somewhere but I never got that far. Less romantic but eh, does it have to be?
It's just been sitting idle on my harddrive for like a year now. I figured what the heck, I'll fiddle around with the background a bit and then be done with it. Turns out I spent far longer on it than I had first meant to.
I don't really like changing old stuff, it feels wrong to hide old progress or erase mistakes (which I do all the time, thanks to that awful undo button). So I tried not to mess with Brisby herself, just color correct and add some extra stuff in the background like the grass, since it initially seemed so empty. Geez it took me all night! Refining, refining, over and over, what a time sink. Yet looking at it now, it's rather underwhelming... I wish I could produce something even as slightly impressive as the backgrounds from the film. Those are just gorgeous! Has anyone ever tried to watch NIMH in black & white? It may seem odd but my, you wouldn't believe the details that pop out in the background when you watch it without color! It's really strange, at least for me, my mind had less to focus on color-wise, like cool and warm colors, so I had a much easier time to think about composition and spot changes in contrast, and wow it really makes a difference. I found it amazing how much I had missed out on by simply watching it in color...
Anyway, yada yada blah blah, stop rambling dude! Right?
