So, these are some of my newest arts that I've been working on lately. As you can see, there's a vast difference between the styles of some of the characters. Even the shading and overall lineart is going to change between them, especially from Kol and Yuko to Jannicke and Uuo. It may not seem like much, but to me it's a vast improvement from where my artwork was before. I seem to have issues uploading at a regular basis normally, but Eclipse just doesn't like my browsers or something. All the same because I don't like it.
These are all just bust expressions from concept sheets I'm making or have made.
Opal is an enemy from my own Sonic Universe. I originally adopted a bunch of characters for the neighbor kids and would spend time with them (babysitting) and telling stories to them. It then turned into a massive story with twists and turns that I eventually started to brainstorm and type a little up. Her and Black (a hedgehog like Shadow but pure black in color) were trying to destroy the planet but found themselves up against a ragtag group of a panther, fox, rabbit, bear cub, cow, and others. Eventually, they would steal the DNA from the panther to create a replica (albeit female)... though the female didn't end up fighting against him very long before she was convinced who was the true enemy. Opal, near the end of the story, would backstab her partner and help save them all.
Lhiezsad already has a portion of her story uploaded here: https://www.deviantart.com/alone1sa.....view-812286871
She is a mother of at least twenty spiders (she's a "monster spider" woman with six arms and two legs). She takes great joy in scaring and killing those that threaten her home, especially her children. However, a young man finds himself strangled by her grasp... but doesn't seem to be too worried at all. When his bag falls to the ground, donuts fall out and scatter across the floor. All her children immediately stop attacking and raid his delicious baked goods which doesn't help Lhiezsad at all. Now, she can't seem to get rid of him because her kids started to protect him from their mother. Later on, she finds out that he's also seen a gargoyle-like woman who has been using him to help with research and a witch using him for her dastardly creations. No wonder she didn't scare him...
Thomas, Gracie, and Charlotte are all from the same series, so their artwork should be similar. I finished Gracie's and Charlotte's sketch pages (which is already up on my FA account A1Again and my Toyhou.se), so this is only their bust expressions. Thomas was being worked on, but I get distracted with other characters easily. Thomas is training to become a chef and own his own diner, but the road is hard. He finds himself needing a roommate, but one gets thrust upon him by his best friend... but it turns out to be his best friend's girlfriend! The story unfolds with much drama and hilarity as Gracie's friends come over nearly every night... and he doesn't much care for them. Charlotte is the secretary of the employment company that oversees every diner in the area and is the main source of attention for him. (this was a small break from all the stories I've been writing with drawn-out story arcs and characters)
EDIT: I just realized that Gracie is the only one on here with clothing. That wasn't supposed to be there. Oh well. Nobody's really showing anything anyway. ^^
Aeli is the goddess of a game similar to .Hack, though once the purge begins the players begin to see the AI of the game start to gain intelligence and react as humans would. Some become hunters that just seek to destroy all human players of the game.
Uuo Radoni (her full name) is actually a play on words. She's extremely lazy unless it benefits her somehow. Uuo is a noble gas, which noble gases are odorless, colorless, tasteless, and are inert. This basically describes her personality perfectly. I was planning on using her for a "choose your own adventure" or "dating rpg" kind of story.
Kol and Yuko are supposed to be characters from yesteryear, an 80's-90's style of story and artwork. The hero, Yuko, and the antihero, Kol, always locked into combat with a monster pulling the strings from the shadows. If you've watched Dragon Half or even anime like Dirty Pair, you should understand the kind of art and story I'm trying for with those two.
Jannicke is the last one on the list and the one I'm currently working on today. I added glares to her skin and soft-shaded it entirely. What I hope is to use her for a story of hope and faith, what it means to be good and evil. She has been training to become a priestess of a very prestigious church, but she has to take the "Path of Purity" challenge which leads her to take a flame to the top of a mountain. If the flame doesn't get there, she will be branded too weak to become a priestess. Jannicke takes it up into the caverns of the mountain, but gets a little lost and runs into a large black "smoke" behind some paper seals and magical glyphs. She accidentally lets it free and it turns into a large man who immediately threatens her! She now has to race up the mountain before he can get to her, but a band of brigands attack her. The demonic guy makes her a deal that she can't refuse, though it means she may have to give up becoming a priestess altogether. Soon, she learns that not all shadows are dark... and not all light is holy...
In retrospect, I think Jannicke is my favorite style so far. I'm still teaching myself how to shade properly, but it's substantially better than what I could have done before. I still love my cellshade artstyle like I've been doing for so long, but most of my art tends to change depending on what I feel and what stories I picture them to be in at that moment. That's why the style of Aeli stands out from the others and the shading of Yuko and Jannicke are vastly different. I love the different styles and think Jannicke is pretty close to what my kind of style is going to become.
I CANNOT WAIT to start working on Constantina again! I already have a new chapter I plan on releasing soon for ARIMOUX and I hope some of you read it once it's out. Let me know what your favorite character is out of this and what you think of these characters. I'd love to have some feedback! ^^
I adopted everybody on this list with the exception of Kol. All credits are under the characters and major shoutouts to all of them! ALL ARTWORK DEPICTED is mine.
