Of course, Porky was the original hunter in the earliest Bugs and Daffy cartoons. Porky's Duck Hunt and Porky's Hare Hunt! Boy, they had a way with titles in those days!
The basic situation for your basic Warner Bros. Cartoons was hunting. They later turned Egghead into Elmer, but Egghead hunted as well. Later series weren't much different. Sylvester and Tweetie, Henery Hawk and Foghorn Leghorn, The Coyote and the Road Runner. Various cats including Sylvester and Speedy.
Slightly different was Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunny who were violent towards each other, but no digestion was intended. I don't think removing the guns makes the cartoons less violent.
