Having studied the ways of the blade and spiritual enlightenment, Megumi has put both her skills as a swordswoman and a priestess to good use in both cleansing the darkness the lies within others as well as exorcising the living embodiment of darkness: the shadows. Megumi’s dedication to the art of swordplay and her mastery of the Seishin priest texts has allowed her to transcend new heights that the other shrine maidens have yet to access, and possibly fear. The swinging of sharp steel and the flickering of blue flames, Megumi can fell the darkness and protect others more efficiently that other priestess can. In fact, Akiyo: the very FOUNDER of the group Megumi is a part of, has expressed her own pride in the feline for ascending to such heights and using the power to better aid others. In fact, if you recall, there was a rule issued later after Akiyo’s death. The rule was that it was forbidden for Seishin priestesses to engage in physical combat due to possible losing their lives and thus leaving people without a way to defend themselves from the dark influences that would often surface “without reason”. As a result, priestesses would often be accompanied by a skilled soldier during excursions to various villages or during their exorcisms. Well, Megumi defied that rule and took up the blade so that she could live up the reputation of her ancestor, a master swordsman who vanquished a great demon long before her time! Well something that Megumi DIDN’T know until much later (shortly after being an Apostle), was that her ancestor WAS an Apostle long ago! That’s right, Megumi, now an Apostle, is emulating one of the first members of Oblivia’s forces. I wonder if Oblivia knew that before selecting the feline to join her…? Regardless, I’m more than certain Megumi will live up to her ancestor’s reputation, and who knows: she might just surpass it! This awesome pic of Megumi was done by
Jeso who had a blast working on this and I love how it came out!! I hope you all enjoy, now don’t get burned!
*TRIVIA: Megumi’s last name of Yomitsuchi is a combination of “Yomi” the Japanese word for the underworld referencing her spectral flames and the suffix of “Kagutsuchi” the Shinto god of fire, referring to her ability to use fire.
