Here is a screen cap of my CAD file for the simple animations I have done so far.
I do the sketches in CAD, it allows me to draw a character and modify and tweak it until I get it how I want. Then I copy it and change just certain parts over each pic.
Then draw the lil squares around each one so they export the same size. Which leaves me with the 5+ individual pics to invert and color in GIMP.
After each pic is colored and re-saved, I use an easy freebie animation program (GIFmation) to put the pics together in the right order, and set for how many seconds between images to make it move at the right speed.
Then save the finished pic as an animated GIF file. The longer ones in the future will be saved as flash videos instead of GIF's.
It seems like an overly-complicated process using 3 programs, but it's not really as bad as it seems. The longest step is coloring the individual frames. (1-2 hours)
The finished products from above.
