A sketch from 2013 that's actually one of my favorite pieces from the whole year.
Ever since I first designed Sidney, I had him and Charley as friends. Attorney and small-time petty criminal that can't keep out of trouble? They would see each other all the time!
However, as time went on, I considered that they might be more than just friends.
I don't really have the specifics 100% figured out yet, but Sidney has always been interested in Charley (although he is also still closeted at that point), but not quite sure how to express that although he tests the waters on occasion, and Charley has always been oblivious to Sidney's subtle hints. However, when Charley gets evicted from his apartment, Sidney offers to take him in as a roommate, and from there they gradually become more comfortable with each other until Sidney finally works up the courage to make his move...
This all has a happy ending, of course--Sidney and Charley were actually my first gay couple, although I don't have much art of them together (this has more to do with me preferring to draw single characters, though, than any aversion to chubby gay mustelids cuddling romantically).

Awww, this is adorable❣️ These two would make such a cute couple because even though they're on opposite sides of the law, with Sidney upholding it and Charley breaking it, they both have been shown to have silly sides that actually make pretty compatible with each other. I hope we can see some art with these two. 😊
Thank you very much! I think their personalities mesh pretty well, and they might be able to help each other get over some of their issues--Charley has always sorta had to fend for himself without any support from anybody that's a positive influence, and his behaviors (and just generally being a raccoon) makes it so few are willing to trust him, while Sidney is cranky and short-tempered because he doesn't get a whole lot of social interaction either. Part of their story has to do with Sidney having no idea how to express his feelings toward Charley, and worrying that if he does and Charley doesn't feel the same way, he'll wind up scaring off his best friend.
Drawing more art of them together has been on my to-do list forever. My hesitance to do so is 100% because I prefer to draw single-character pieces, but at some point I need to buckle down and draw them cuddling or holding hands or something casually romantic like that.
