Probably a more well known and common reoccurrence in the Metal community is how fans of different heavy metal subgenres turn on each other. The most well known feud in the subgenres is Death Metal vs Black Metal and how they fight like cats and dogs.
I personally don't wanna take sides on subgenres, though I think we can all agree that pop music sucks.

Arvid Svanberg, founder and guitarist for the Norwegian Black Metal band, Damien's Spell.
