It's often said that hurt people hurt people. And that people are adept at solving everyone's problems but their own. What a glorious mess life is, if you have the privilege of living outside of it. But the mess is just a mess if it happens to you.
Bela Farkas. Long-limbed, skeletal, dark-eyed and intellectual, after a fashion. Another mammal from Savanna Prep, one of Zootopia's prestigious private institutions. He never knew how to talk to anyone. Least of all anyone he liked. Family leporidae. His mind was filled with fascination with this strange concept of savagery, an ancient idea given paint and polish by pretentious curmudgeons and misanthropes pontificating about the rightness of being a savage. But worse than that... after Bela met a beautiful rabbit and put his paw in his mouth saying anything he could trying to catch her interest, he found modern folk on the internet only too glad to tell him he was right. He was too powerful, to raw and bestial for that rabbit. Never told how to succeed, only informed why he was a loser. And what to do about it. Sterile ideas of blood and wicked ancient days led to seeing real savagery, and having to confront that he knew nothing at all. He was all empty echoes of clean words on clean pages, when blood was never so clean.
Ame Ichoji, Smiling Rain. A queen bee of Iriomote high, a high class public school in Vine Country, where the Asian mammals mostly live. A perfect Magpie Harlequin. Lead actress in the theater department, mover and shaker and doer, devout doe who heads to the shrine every day. Smiling. Always smiling. Lighting incense as she counts out her 108-bead ojuzu chanting a single word. Ookami. She was out once and met a pack of delinquents. Met a wolf so tall his ears touched the sky, with limbs so long they stretched from horizon to horizon. Lank and reedy and so perfect, until he opened his mouth. He said shocking things. Dumb things. He must have just been a savage. That look in his eyes, not hungry or haughty. He couldn't have been desperate, not for her, not for a fat little teardrop plump rabbit. Smiling. Always smiling as she solves problems and helps. Helps everyone. Everyone but herself.
More Zootopia OCs. There is a certain inspiration, the difference is, while they ARE a bit broken, they're not entirely dysfunctional. They actually have hope for a future in general. Witness their exploits in two chapters of "The one that I want", "Bela Lugosi's dead" and "But... I AM Pagliacci".

In a way. They're like the ones you're thinking of, but functional. Their society is also superior. There's never any actual danger of harm. He was an idiot, she was a liar. Bottled up her feelings while he let them out way too much. They're better together, rather than... toxically dysfunctional.
