I mentioned this guy back in 2018, but I kinda felt like drawing him a reference sheet just because I felt like everyone needed to see his full design.
Dr. Krankcase has a father that’s still alive! Unfortunately, they don’t get along.
Dr. Quinton Krankcase is a renowned engineer for airships and some of the most popular airship models in Skylands are licensed under the Dr. Krankcase name, which has caused some confusion as of late since, thanks to the actions of his son, the name “Krankcase” has been irredeemably damaged.
Before running his airship company, Quinton used to be head mechanic for the Trap Team, and in his youth he traveled all of Skylands fighting bad guys with both the Trap Team and his best friend, Buzz. He was basically the Hugo to Buzz’s Flynn, constantly being the voice of reason as his friend risked life and limb fighting monsters to keep Skylands safe. It was during his adventures that he met his future wife, a reformed air pirate named Gnortica, and they settled down and had one excitable, half-frog kid that they both hoped would become one of Skyland’s greatest heroes.
Dr. Krankcase did not, and when the Trap Team was going to send him to Cloudcracker Prison, Quinton was there to publicly disown him, and to this day he still doesn’t trust that Krankcase could turn his life around, believing that the Skylanders accepting his awful, evil son is a sign that Master Eon has gone soft.
The weapon he holds in his hands is designed specifically to combat his son’s inventions. The electric pulse it contains is a countermeasure against anything animated with Dr. Krankcase’s magic glowing green goo, including his son’s own legs, so he’s well-armed just in the event that his son tries to finish him off. He’s not paranoid, he insists. He’s being careful!
