Sometimes I wonder if the player is the true villain in the calamity mod. Reading the lore can literally make the player cry and feel bad.

Yeah, completely agree. At the beginning I hated Yharon for being such a difficult boss, but then I heard the lyrics of the song... and read the lore. Truly makes you feel like a monster.

I did tear up a little after reading the lore. I was like "what has the player become..."

It kind of reminds me of OFF, where the judge (Pablo) figured out the batter (the character you play as) is actually destroying the world. And the player can choose which side to be on. Either take the judge's side and take control of the judge and try to defeat the batter (who transforms into a spectre), or you could take the batter's side and kill the judge, and turn the switch to off, which destroys the world. If you choose the judge and defeat the batter, the batter says that it's too late to fix everything, but the judge is ok with this. After the judge kills the batter, he says "Hence, nothing remains, but our regrets". And then the game ends.

The problem in Terraria, is that you always believe you're a hero that slays evil beings. Until you realize that you killed an endangered plant species, the cultists and pillars that were trying to protect the world from the moon lord... or literally anything else in the name of loot. That's when emotions kick in the hardest.

Correct... suddenly all that satisfaction for killing Yharon became guilt. I believe that's why I loved the mod so much; no game had made me feel so many emotions in a long time.

I can imagine Yharim calling the player a demon. And in his second phase, he brings back yharon, and after a hard battle, he realizes that yharon is not real, and falls on his knees and cries, leaving him vulnerable. Then a red text says "put him out of his misery". Then the player will move on their own and kill Yharim.

Yharon even warns him that he can't win. Knowing that Yharim is already depressed and desperate, I would feel terrible during a fight against him. Then having to put him "out of his misery" would make me blast in tears.

Then I can imagine the player fighting themself. And after that, they reset the world.
