It's on youtube, and for a 80s cartoon movie it's rather bland

I remember seeing the character painted on a wall in a pediatric wing of a local hospital, long before the movie came out. Apparently he was created by a pop-artist named Stewart Moskowitz and was featured in a lot of poster art.

I could never watch the movie all the way through. Kind of tepid, really, in spite of some winsome character designs.

I remember the dragon from "Pete's Dragon" painted on the wall of the children's section of a video rental store. I've heard of the movie, but those who saw that movie didn't find it too great.

I never heard of him. I looked him up on Wikipedia, and found he wasn't popular even in his day.

They used to show it on This TV. Which of course begs the question "does anyone remember This TV?"

I dressed up as The American Rabbit for my 1st grade Halloween. My Mom put a lot of effort into making the costume and it's always been a cherished memory since.

I remember an underground comic called "Hypocrisy Is Hell" where the Matt Groening rabbit tells FOX TV executives about how he has attacked Republicans and big corporations, and notes that "The Simpsons" is made by cheap Third World labor, and that morally he should have that show done in this country. "It would cost more, but it would be the right thing to do." Two panels afterward he says, "Just kidding."

It was an interesting concept, but lackluster in delivery.

There wasn't even a final battle with the main villain, just a chase scene and then the bad guy freezes in a snowstorm.

I wonder if it would have worked better as a show than a movie. Could have given the characters more development.
