Bellwether walks down a sidewalk beside a brick building, after having another terrible day at the office as an overlooked, unappreciated assistant mayor who should be destined for great things, but is always pushed to the side, having credit stolen, and overlooked as if she was never anybody important to begin with, even if she tried looking forward to her big moment, only to have it swiped away at the last minute. It's bad enough to be bullied and abused all your life because of what you are that you could not help being born as, but to have your chances taken from you by someone else is always there, and you feel there is no better, honest way of finally getting anyone to notice that you are capable of anything. Bellwether probably keeps on waiting for her moment to shine, but that never happened as if she was never destined for great things that could change others' lives.
Just finished watching the last episodes from Season 2 of Tangled the series, and I can't help but think that the song sung buy Cassandra "Waiting in the Wings" reminds me so much of Bellwether's situation, before she snapped and became a victim of her own anger, fear, self loathing, jealousy, and confusion. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq3BYt…
Guess we all are born with parts to play
Some of us are stars, and some are just in the way
I know I was meant for glory
But that's never what my story brings
And yet I keep on waiting
When you have the passion and the drive
You expect your moment centre stage to arrive
I show up with heart ablazing
Ready to achieve amazing things
But I'm left waiting in the wings
I hear my cue
And yet I'm kept there waiting
Know what to do
And still I stand there waiting
It's always someone else who sings
While I'm left waiting in the wings
And so I keep on keeping on
My chances come and then I blink and they're gone
Always overlooked unfairly
While pretending that it barely stings
But it stings, yes, it stings
And I'll shed no tears
I'll only keep on waiting
If no-one cheers
Well, I can keep on waiting
Who cares how loud the silence rings
You'll find me waiting in the wings...
