Despite being a parasite though, it still has a good heart. I still think the parasite can be saved as well if they can just give it a way to survive on its own, without having to co-opt someone else's biology.

Course it would also be rather funny if they actually gave them a full bio-scan or the like and it turns out it was only thinking of itself as a parasite and its harmonization from earlier actually made it a symbiote and everything is fine but this shows how much everyone cares for one another. :D <3

I doubt the harmony thing would do anything, there is nothing even inherently evil about the parasite. I think it will come down to simple biology in the end. As i have said before in previous posts, i still think he will just change its species from parasite to something else, like a symbiote as you said.

Alter's theory only works, on BOG STANDARD PONIES AND EQUESTRIAN NATIVES. He outright states he knows next to NOTHING about Serenity, and is working on understanding her on the fly!

And if you've dealt with them in Fallout 4, especially on Higher Levels and above Normal Difficulty, you'll see why I'm wary about cutting or vaping parts off Serenity, as even Alter admits he knows Jackshit (Not exactly what he said) about Serenity's biology, as such a case has never happened before, even with all the Void Breaches.

So yeah, he can Tout about "What Parasites Do" and all, but how do we know that the little Shrimp isn't just confused, or is a Symbiote rather than a Parasite and picked 'Parasite' because it 'Sounded Cooler'? Sides, je's using Native Equestrian Biology as the Yardstick, on a Chimera they've never Had come to Equestria, EVER.

Alter, You're forgetting something very important...

You know Next to NOTHING about Serenity. You said so when you acquired her, and even decided to make her your assistant on the fly, so you can see what makes her tick.

You're using Normal data, the ones you get from beings who are NOT Serenity. You still know jack about her, and you even said your Data Cards are Not Perfect. They Can't tell you everything, and can't self update.

What's more, there's a strong lacking of Full Anatomical understanding of Serenity, and you yourself were trying to understand her more.

If you go through with this, You may end up finding out you've made a Devastating mistake. If the "Parasite" is important to Serenity, you may have killed off what is Essentually a vital part of your assistant, or even, could have been one of the core parts of Serenity that is keeping her from becoming a Mindless beast.

You keep riding that Soap Box as much as you like, Alter, but if you find out you've killed her literal Voice of Reason, I'm going to be braced against the wall to say, "Ich Told du so."

Given the data we have right now, it's 50-50, 50% chance that everything Alter is concerned about is right, and 50% chance that he's wrong. Well, I did know there were informal and Formal "you"s in the German Language. I'm still trying to memorize it.

You know, I think all these people going after Alter on behalf of the parasite are forgetting an important part of his comment. 'IF I have to get rid of you.' He hasn't made a decision yet because he doesn't know. All he's doing right now is outlining the worse case scenarios. It calls itself a parasite. Parasites are, by their nature, destructive to the host. Knowing Alter, he just wants to kiss it and start finding out more but Sparity jumped the gun cause Alter's social interaction skills are a bit subparr.

It's not just Sparity. He terrified the Crap out of Serenity and her Companion, which even if Sparity hadn't intervined, the "Parasite" is clearly upset and even more Distraught at the mere thought of even hurting Serenity.

Sides, remember, this is the same Alternate Dawn who kisses EVERYONE without Consent to acquire data... And I'm pretty damn sure that if he wanted to get the facts, he would have done it already!

So why the long wait? Why at least Ten more Chapters of having to play Guilt-Trip Tenis at this point, if all he had to do was pucker up and kiss the damn thing in the nose?!

Because he already did kiss the parasite, and Sparity did exactly what you're doing there. Pounce on him before he can actually start researching. Go back and read the pages. He thought it was just part of Serene, not an independent entity. Also, take in mind this is a conversation. It's days and weeks apart for us reading, but this is all in less than two minutes for them. It's hard truths that should be hard, though Alter has a horrible delivery of it. Lets give him a couple more pages and likely we'll get something like a turn around of 'why didn't you just start with this instead of scaring us!' or something to that effect.

Outside of that, it's a more interesting read to have him play Guilt Trip, and is in character for him to do it when confronted on a matter of science and biology like that. Look how much emotion and passion it's causing in the fans. It's a very nice turn in the story and very entertaining to read. Of course, I'm hoping Parasite can stay, or get it's own body.

To recap: Alter has kissed Parasite, remarked that it would be a shame if he had to get rid of it, and we're about a minute or two into the outrage that statement sparked and well before Alter could start his favourite pastime of research people.

I'm more curious as to why he isn't casually looking the card over.

He did that the last few times while idly having conversations with others, some having the same weight as this one.

All I can tell is that in the end, he's kinda digging himself into a deep hole, and I just want him to stop digging. The easiest fix to the problem, as mentioned, is through the card... Which he has not produced.

He's making himself look like Dr Venture at this point. What we're missing now is a RoboPon that he made from a deceased friend.

Well... we do have a Sweetie Bot in setting, so it would be double up too much. Would Eden's hoof be close enough? XD

But it's likely just for the sake of the story, and to give him a chance to expound the potential Bad Ends rather than just going with the 'everything works out' solution. Plus, for as much as some readers find him douchy for doing it, others (like myself) appreciate it for a variety of reasons. Personally? I just like these kinds of moral, ethical, and medical dilemmas and enjoy the pages showing the conflict between the different ideologies in a sense rather than just going right to a solution.
