"So then, my life essence was carried off to Certus Nusquam," the mage recounted while he laid on his back. Nuri, the huge red and blue dragon sprawled before him, was listening intently to the tale the mage was telling.
"Sir-tis...what," Nuri asked and canted his wide muzzle to one side, a look of confusion plastered over it.
"Certus Nusquam," Danathius repeated, "It's where all the souls of everyone who has died are gathered in my universe. They stay there, sorted and managed by the Volcaire for the rest of eternity."
"Vol...what? What are they," the dragon asked curiously, bringing his enormous snout close to the human in awe. The story clearly had the dragon ripe with anticipation and wonder.
"A story for another time," Danathius said with a yawn -- his eyes felt heavy, and his body sluggish. Sleep's hold was overtaking him, and he would not be able to resist its call for too much longer. Not that he wanted to sleep -- but he had already been up way late into the night discussing stories with the large dragon, who had been kind enough to escort Danathius across unfamiliar territory!
"Hmph. Very well, but if you don't finish your story tomorrow, I will eat you up, little mage," Nuri teased with a particularly toothy smirk, before his thick, fat tongue snaked out from between his jaws and probed into Danathius's chest with a wet flop. The mage giggled and squirmed, basking in the heat of the dragon's breath and the warmth of the fire blazing to his side. There was nothing better than camping out in a beautiful, star-lit sky with a wonderful friend.

There definitely was a little bit of exploration the following morning. Or, at least, some time after. XD
