Something I've been trying to solidify for a bit. For Ren Fairs and conventions I pretty much have one costume finished aside from needing a new surcoat, its a bit of a knight attire and I've been wanting to design a new one once that one was more or less finished.
So this idea came to mind of making a mage costume with a dragon theme, especially since one of the hands would be a dragon's. Its kinda dark but not in an evil way, more of brooding way. A shoulder cape w/ hood with an impression of a dragon head to it. A half cape to cover the dragon arm with an overlapping scale like effect to it.
The front strip contains ruins from an archaic alphabet I actually have developed. A simple gray robe and waist sash with a belt underneath for the holsters to attach to.
The cape brooch/pin was a challenge but then I decided to do some searching on Etsy.com and found a nice one with a neat claw and scale effect that fit the theme.
The scepter and sword I actually have already built, though I need to redo the sword. Its a really cool scepter made of this twisted wood thats stained and varnished so it looks black and slick, with a quartz crystal mounted at the head.
The dragon hand I have the first stage all done of building its form, the next step is coating it with latex. More details when I finish it. Bandages would be used to cover the area to give the impression that it was grafted on.
Hopefully this can be done in time for Bristol Ren Faire and Wizard World Chicago.
