Sir Ian Holm has been in a lot of amazing films. By all accounts he was an actors actor and both generous and kind with his fans. I've always been one of those fans and always will be. RIP.

he wore that mask so well, nobody saw it coming, though we should have, sadly for Sir Ian, Parkinson's is so much harder to fight through and there is just so little that can be done, I know I was so happy when I got Alien: Isolation and he actually came back to voice Ash for the DLC.....Ash from Alien and Puck from Midsummers Nights Dream were my favorite roles of his
Yeah he had such great taste in roles. He brought so much personality to everything he was in. Even a role like Napoleon in Time Bandits he really understood what Terry Gilliam was trying to do and pushed it over the top. A lot of actors won't do that but he wasn't afraid to be really out there. Yet in Alien he could be restrained and menacing without showing you why you should be afraid of him. He was so nuanced.
