Some Taylor Paper-glass test panels using knitted fabric and epoxy.
Yes I know the panels are warped that's due to the paper being warped when we started. These are mainly to get a rough weight and to see the stiffness of a panel.

Well what we found out was very interesting. Even the single layer 9 oz double bias each side is stiff enough to do the task. Its stiffer than aluminum and four times as strong. The all up weight is 6.5 oz per square foot or .406 pounds per square foot
After the hammer test we are sure it will hold up to hangar rash better than sheet aluminum.
Hey thanks for the fave too.

Okay... I worked with fiberglass many, many years ago casting huge models of aircraft made for display purposes, and they'd lay the sheets of glass into a mold and spread resin on it. About a day later they'd pop the finished forms out of the molds, then sand, primer and finish the forms. (It was a young Kitbasher's dream!) So is making these glass panels the same process? The reason I'm asking is because Someone got me interested in building a small car using sheets of fiberglass panels and creating something that looks like a Toaster on wheels.

Seem familiar? One page even has plans but no measurements for an inner, welded, square tubed, steel frame.

I have a Boony Bug in storage... when i got it it came with the plans too. I have no idea where the plans are now. It is sitting on a shortened bus chassis. If I was going to build one today i would widen the top because when you drive it you are leaning to the center of the rig. The other don't shorten you want the room inside the van.
If you wish give me a call.
