I think I did this a few years ago, though my idea leaned more towards sending toy soldiers to the heavens.
Looks like it's going to be fun! I think it would be wise if you were to do it away from that wonderful drawing you have there.
Or maybe you could fit the rockets under the car and get a similar effect, the possibilities for fun are endless with fireworks!

Kids today don't know what they're missing. When I was 12 (I think), I built a 'rocket car' from an old go-kart frame and a propane tank. 'Blew myself up in the street right in front of my parrent's house.
As I went inside (still smoldering) Dad asked, 'Well, did ya' learn anything?'
