Just landed this very large 1897-8 collection of Homer Davenport editorial cartoons. Book is in rough shape as binding goes, but contents are fine. I believe it came out just before the war.

I have yet to catalogue this part of my library, but among other things I have are:
(1) A complete set of autographed Herbert Block ("Herblock") books;
(2) What I think is a complete set of Pat Oliphant books;
(3) What I think is a complete set of Vaughn Shoemaker books (a few limited edition and signed);
(4) Both of the Bob Englehart books;
(5) A nearly complete set of Sir David Low's stuff, including the hard to find "Lloyd George & Co." and "Billy Book";
(6) A jaw-dropping collection of Oscar Ceseare's WWI-era cartoons;
(7) A lot of Szep books -- the odd part being that in the space of ten years or so his books came out in a bizarre variety of formats;
(8) A complete volume 1-50 run of the Giles annuals (a few are reprints);
(9) I think all of the Paul Conrad books that came out;
(10) I think all of the Jeff MacNelly political cartoon books (why so few were published, I don't know);
(11) I think all of the Bill Mauldin editorial cartoon books, plus a few of his rare World War II items; and
(12) A whole lot of one-offs and other miscellany, including a Clifford Berryman book bound in burlap (?!) from ca. 1898, a mid-40s book of Krokodil cartoons published in the US, a lot of "JAK" books, Bruce Shanks, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Edward Valtman, and others.

Color me impressed! I have two different Peter Arno books from different eras, probably half-a-dozen George Booth books, a variety of Garry Trudeau's Doonesbury collections (I do not have Action Figure. Yet) and several collections by Trudeau's mentor Jules Feiffer (surely it's a coincidence that both of them are French Canadian and to the left of center). I probably have two dozen books about the creation of comic strips and comic books, at least three of them are by Feiffer. Three or four New Yorker collections, a rather heavy book of cartoons from Life Magazine (the Punch-like comedy collection, not Henry Robinson Luce's creation). I also own about half a dozen or so books, four of which are comic collections, from the shelves of Volodymyr Palahniuk Jack Palance. I wish I could have met the man; his sense of humor and mine were definitely aligned.
A number of old Katzenjammer Kids/Hans and Fritz/The Captain and the Kids books I've picked up as I've run across them. Every single book ever published by Walt Kelley -- including his political stuff, public service work, fiction illustration and some light titillation tomes he printed under an assumed name while working for the other Walt. Likewise George Herriman and Winsor McCay. Yes, everything. Those three were my heroes. There's more, but I'll end up with a comment ladder like the one you have here.

*peruses menu of interest* Let's see, I got "Sizzling Platter" (Arno) not too long ago, and I have "Addams and Evil," as well as a Penguin collection of his cartoons. I used to have more of the Doonesbury stuff; not sure what happened to most of mine, not that I care overly. (I did see the Broadway play, years ago). At one time, I had a very acid-papery copy of Feiffer's "Sick Sick Sick." I have a few of the older New Yorker albums, the ones that were extended every five years. One or two Walt Kelly books, some of the modern Herriman collections. And as far as I'm concerned, ladder away.
